We are fortunate in Port Townsend and Jefferson County to have so many small family farms, many of them offer organic produce.

Jefferson County Extension produces the North Olympic Food & Farm Guide and is available for pick-up at local visitor centers, participating farms and businesses, and the WSU Jefferson County Extension office at the historic Cupola House. The free guide boasts over 130 descriptive listings of family farms, local food restaurants, supporting businesses and organizations throughout Clallam and Jefferson counties, acting as a comprehensive resource for all things local food- and agriculture-related on the Olympic Peninsula.

We are blessed with the many small farms that support and raise locally grown food in East Jefferson County. While taking advantage of our region’s temperate climate and long growing season, we have a plethora of farms, cideries and wine makers in Quilcene/Brinnon, Chimacum, Port Hadlock and Port Townsend, WA.

Jefferson County has a rich agricultural heritage that is now seeing a surge of energy and vitality from farmers across our fertile valleys.  More than a dozen family farms are in operation producing a range of goods and produce from diverse vegetables, to fruit crops like berries and apples, to egg and poultry production, to goat cheese, to cow dairies and pasture-fed beef.

You can taste what grows in Jefferson County at our dynamic Farmers Markets (Port Townsend, Chimacum & Port Ludlow) or at several on-farm stands.  You can also drink the bounty of Jefferson County by visiting the Tasting Rooms of our many local wineries or cideries. The Chimacum Corner store at Center and Highway 19 offers a wide range of goods grown or made right here.

Do not miss Fort Worden State Park. Take a walk on the beach. Fort Worden was built in 1902 to help protect the entrance to Puget Sound. Walk through the concrete bunkers and slam the big steel doors. Bring your flashlight, it is pitch black inside.

Walk along the sandy beach to the Point Wilson Lighthouse. Off in the distance is Whidbey Island.

Port Townsend is located at the entrance to Puget Sound. All ships entering and leaving the Puget Sound, pass right past Port Townsend, WA. In the early days of Washington State many ships made port in Port Townsend to take advantage of our deep water port but more importantly all the brothels and bars on the downtown waterfront.
